Ideas are easy. Execution is rare.

12 August 2026 · 4 min read

Every company I have worked with had the idea long before it had the product. The idea was not the constraint. It never is.

What separates the projects that ship from the ones that circulate as documents is unglamorous: someone decides what will not be built, someone owns the parts nobody wants to own, and someone keeps the scope honest when the first version turns out to be harder than the slide suggested.

This is why I do not sell strategy separately from execution. A plan that has never survived contact with a codebase is a hypothesis wearing a suit. The useful work happens when the people shaping the thing are the same people who have to make it run.

If you take one thing from this: stop evaluating partners on how well they describe your idea back to you. Evaluate them on what they have finished.
